Poribortoner Hawa?

The Kolkata teams are out of the world cup 2010..how is the city reacting?I dont have a clue but I was in the city the day Brazil was playing the Oranjes. After a meeting was supposed to catch the flight to Mumbai...left for the airport from Ballygunge around 7pm..there was substantial traffic on the road..I was surprised..asked the driver.."Brazil ka match hota hai to bhir nahi hoga"..but Bhir was there..is this a sign of changing Kolkata?Working on the day Brazil is playing....

Airport was a bit different..while my suite-case was going through the security scanner,I herad the boy putting the security tag on my luggae telling his friend-aaj mon lagche naa khela aache to...but at least he was there doing his work not letting the luggages accumulating while he spends time in front of the TV...winds of change?poribortoner hawa?....

Difficult to say whether it will usher a change or not in the Bengal's socio economic sphere but a political change is something the State is surely looking for..and it is desirable also...4 decades of same rule has almost communised Bengal in its thought process..and nowhere is it more visible than in the lack of its presence in the new knowledge based economy.
While the bengali aversion to material trading could be understood, though not condoned,
absence of bengali "shilpopoti" in the IT sector is criminal...with all the "buddhijibis" sitng there why Bongosantans couldnot set up an Infosys or a Wipro?
